ABOUT US
BasicD – Basic Health & Development is a Danish-based NGO founded on volunteer work and contributions.
Our focus is to establish and maintain foundations for development mainly in developing countries.
The underlying reasoning in our approach, “Support to self-support,” is key to creating basic sustainable development via engaged locals, where we co-develop initiatives founded on local knowledge, motivations, and resources.
In Kenya, we focus on improving living conditions through improved health services and the basic level of health among common people. The support involves around 42 health facilities and 400,000 Kenyans. In Southern African cities, we focus on combating Climate Change, developing sustainable cities, and improving living conditions through developing urban recycling economies and turning waste into a resource.
We co-work with the Ministry of Health, local governments, health staff, scientists, provincial medical officers, lab technicians, and researchers.
Our Vision, Mission, and Team
Vision: To achieve sustainable development and improvements in public health in developing countries via on-the-ground experience, real-life complexities, and local needs, motivations, and initiatives.
Mission: To improve the quality of health services in remote areas, e.g., resolve life-threatening conditions by improving healthcare access and empowering communities.
Action: Guided by local logic and needs, we prioritize partnerships with local institutions to develop preventive and clinical health initiatives.
Our interdisciplinary team of dedicated volunteers collaborates with regional and local governments, health practitioners, and international donors to create lasting solutions. We cultivate a foundation for self-development, empowering communities to achieve economic and social growth through improved health and well-being.
