WELCOME TO BASICD
BASIC HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT
At BasicD, we are committed to improving sustainable development in underserved regions, focusing on:
- Improving the quality of health services
- Women and community empowerment
- Developing reforestation and agroforestry as a climate change solution that also supports socioeconomic development and education in rural communities
We operate from Copenhagen, Denmark, and Kakamega, Kenya. In Kenya, our volunteer-based NGO has supported over 42 health facilities across Kenya, including dispensaries, health centers, and hospitals. Through donations of medical equipment sourced from more than 100 Danish donors, including hospitals, clinics, and individuals, we aim to enhance diagnostic and healthcare quality. Our accomplishments include constructing the Virembe Community Hospital (2010–2012) and supporting the Esikoma Hospital, providing critical infrastructure for improved healthcare and community capacity building. BasicD’s initiatives touch the lives of approximately 400,000 people, helping create sustainable health solutions for communities in need.
Further, we collaborate on scaling up a solar-based poultry incubator project in Western Kenya (collaborating with OSIEPA (Kenyan NGO) and Emergency Energy (US NGO), and reforestation and socioeconomic development in East Madagascar in collaboration with Nationa Defenders in the Endrigna project.
